Well, yeah. The big problem is also that this presenters of this is the so-called Center for Consumer Freedom, which is a front for radical liberatarian and pro-business types who believe that big business and corporations should have no accountability or oversight under the law whatsoever. Their rationale is that no business or corporation would ever sell or provide inferior products or services because that would be counter-productive to profit. A logical but totally naive view that they nonetheless cling to. There are numerous examples of this kind of co-opting between the Right and Life. Because of hypocrisy, the oppression of the Sandanistas against indigenous tribes in the country of Nicaragua was dismissed or ignored by most here on the Left, leaving the field open for exploitation by the Right. Only the American Indian Movement gave its lone support. With PETA, it was a surprisingly small operation that had the advantage of money and a well-oiled public relations firm on retainer. It was founded by what could be term a "trust-fund rebel" who used his inheritance to start this and make it appear to have more power and clout than it actually has.

It appears that the article is judging PETA the worldwide organization by one clinic operated in Virginia. I wonder why they aren't counting the "temporary animals" coming through the spay neuter clinic. It doesn't tell the complete story of the reasons why the animals were put down. When I worked at the wildlife refuge, many animals brought to us had been injured beyond rehabilitation and instead of letting them suffer a decision was made to end the animals pain. It appears to me the article is spin, written with a preconceived conclusion that uses limited facts that will only make it appear the story is presenting facts. All facilities with animals have a freezer to keep dead animals in. Depending on the licensing you are required to do that by law. I'm not saying the employees didn't do anything wrong. Lots of places use volunteer help because they can't pay for employees. Yes PETA worldwide takes in a lot of donations. I wonder how many small clinics and adoption facilities that huge amount covers. I'm sure it isn't just one small clinic in Virginia, and perhaps it wasn't even a PETA run clinic but maybe PETA funded them from a grant. Thats the way most national and worldwide organizations work. From what I've seen working with animals for most of my life is that PETA on a whole does a good job policing facilities where animals are abused. Many of the animals brought to us had been confiscated from abusive facilities. Many of those animals were on their deathbed with open sores and so weak they couldn't even stand up. So depending on what the facility did, I could see a larger than normal death rate in a facility taking in animals of that nature. I'm not a member of PETA, and have never been a member. But I know better than to believe the article states all the facts just from the way it is written.
